Rongxing Garden is the local backyard — a big lawn, a bougainvillea arbour and fireflies
The closest neighborhoods in the same city.
Rongxing Garden is the backyard of this neighborhood — 6.5 hectares of green space with a big lawn, an ecological pond, a bougainvillea corridor, and a firefly habitat. The playground inside was Taipei's first inclusive playground, and the movie "Our Times" was also filmed there. It's not far west of Zhongshan Junior High School Station, an elevated station on the Wenhu Line located on Fuxing North Road. The neighborhood's northern boundary is Minzu East Road, with Songshan Airport right across the way.
Beyond the park, healthcare access here ranks 13th out of Taipei's 73 neighborhoods, so you don't have to travel far to see a doctor. Schools are well covered too — Wuchang Elementary School, Zhongshan Junior High School, and National Taipei University's Taipei Campus are all within the neighborhood. The southern end of the neighborhood stretches from between Fuxing North Road and Dunhua North Road out to Changchun Road, and also includes Songji Village in Songshan District.
Rongxing Garden began renovations in July 2026, carried out section by section, so part of it will always be fenced off until the work is finished. Daily convenience here ranks 21st out of Taipei's 73 neighborhoods — pretty middle-of-the-road; cleanliness as seen in street-view photos is weaker, ranking only 55th. Zhongshan Junior High School Station has just one entrance/exit and one footbridge, so give yourself extra time getting in and out during rush hour. The west side sits right against the Jianguo Elevated Road, so if you're looking at places on that side, go listen to the traffic noise in person first.
Rongxing Garden was opened by the Koo family in 1968, and back then you needed a ticket to get in. The name "Rongxing" comes from Koo Hsien-jung, whose courtesy name was Yaoxing. The city government took it over in 1989, and after renovations were completed at the end of 2003 it was renamed Rongxing Park, which also got a firefly restoration area. Zhongshan Junior High School Station opened in 1996; it was originally planned to be named after the old place name Xiapitou. Wenhu Line trains heading from this station to Songshan Airport Station go from elevated track down into the tunnel.
The city government expects this round of renovations at Rongxing Garden to finish by December 2028, with the big lawn, the ecological pond, and the firefly habitat all preserved. The original fountain pool will be turned into a water mist garden plaza that can host performances.

Maps show the shops and the sights. What a street is like, you only know by walking it. TidyMap uses AI street imagery analysis and public facility data to turn each area's street environment and everyday convenience into something you can compare. Search an address and look at the street outside first.
How to read it: yellow = poor, blue = good; grey = not enough data
TidyMap rates the street environment and everyday convenience. It does not assess the home itself, safety, noise or actual living experience. Street environment scores use AI assessments of imagery; convenience scores use public facility data.
