Between Yuanshuai Temple and the Nankan River, the administrative and commercial centre of Luzhu
The closest neighborhoods in the same city.
Nankan's main temple is Wufu Temple, which locals call Yuanshuai Temple. Legend has it that the earliest incense offerings here were brought over by Ming-Zheng soldiers in 1661. Locals divide Nankan into Shangnankan and Xianankan, and Wufu Temple sits in Wufu Village, which is part of Shangnankan. The Nankan River runs through this area, and on weekends people bike and stroll along the riverside path. This is the administrative and commercial heart of Luzhu District — the district office is on Nankan Road, and the Luzhu Civil Sports Center is on Section 1 of Ren'ai Road.
Walking around here is pretty comfortable — the sidewalks rank 4th among Taoyuan's 11 neighborhoods, and the street environment ranks 5th. The Luzhu Civil Sports Center opened in November 2019, with a swimming pool, multi-purpose courts, plus a squash court and a bouldering area. Nankan Elementary School sits between Jilin Road and Zhongshan Road, in an area locally known as Dingnankan.
The biggest downside here is that there's no rail station — public transit ranks only 10th, and everyday convenience ranks 10th. The Green Line's G13 Nanzhu Zhongzheng North Station, expected to open in 2026, sits just outside the southwest edge of the neighborhood, still a bit of a walk from homes in the northern part.
The name "Lamcam" already appears in Dutch-era documents, and one theory is that it comes from the Nankan Settlement of the Kulon people. Wufu Temple was rebuilt in 1745, listed as a Grade 3 historic site in 1985, and is now a city-designated historic site. Later, with the construction of the Taoyuan Interchange on the Sun Yat-sen Freeway and the area's proximity to the airport, Luzhu's population grew from about 50,000 to about 150,000. In July 1999, Taimall Shopping Center opened on Section 1 of Nankan Road.
The MRT Green Line was approved by the Executive Yuan in 2016. The Department of Rapid Transit Systems' current timeline calls for the section from Kengkou to the Art and Cultural District to open first in 2026, with the main line opening in 2030. G13 Nanzhu Zhongzheng North Station will be located at the intersection of Zhongzheng North Road and Nanzhu Road, with the secondary station name "Hedi".

Hospitals with inpatient beds (2020 data), public elementary and junior high schools whose catchment covers this area, high schools and universities within 1 km, stations, parks of 1 ha or more, and large shopping malls and department stores. Many Tokyo junior high students attend private schools, so junior high catchments are only a guide.
Maps show the shops and the sights. What a street is like, you only know by walking it. TidyMap uses AI street imagery analysis and public facility data to turn each area's street environment and everyday convenience into something you can compare. Search an address and look at the street outside first.
How to read it: yellow = poor, blue = good; grey = not enough data
TidyMap rates the street environment and everyday convenience. It does not assess the home itself, safety, noise or actual living experience. Street environment scores use AI assessments of imagery; convenience scores use public facility data.
