01First impressions

Chung Yuan Christian University had 16,510 students enrolled in the 2024–25 academic year, and this neighborhood wraps right around its campus. Right at the main gate, Shijian Road and Rixin Road form the main strip of Zhongyuan Night Market, lined with drink shops, stationery stores, drugstores, food stalls, and clothing shops. Neither street has traffic control at night, so it's common to see pedestrians and vehicles sharing the road in a crowded scene. Shijian Road forms the boundary between Puren Village and Puzhong Village—the two sides of the street belong to different villages, even though it feels like one continuous street. Housing is densest on the Puren Village side; heading southwest into Zhengyi Village, you gradually connect with the blocks in front of Zhongli Station.

02What works

For convenience of daily life, this neighborhood ranks 5th out of the 11 neighborhoods in Taoyuan, and you can just walk to Zhongyuan Night Market for dinner or a late-night snack. If you have elementary school kids, most of Puren Village and Puzhong Village fall within the school zone for Zhongyuan Elementary School. The Art Center on campus is in the North Building of Quanren Village, and its fall 2025 exhibition for the university's 70th anniversary was free to visit.

03Heads-up

Taking the train isn't very convenient—most blocks are more than 800 meters from the nearest TRA station, and public transit here ranks 7th. Sidewalks are also on the weak side, ranking 10th. A large portion of Puzhong Village is university campus land, so housing is concentrated in Puren Village, and that's mostly where you'll find places to view when house-hunting.

04A bit of history

Chung Yuan Christian University was founded in 1955, originally named Zhongli College of Agriculture and Engineering; when it was officially registered that October, the name was changed to Chung Yuan College of Science and Engineering. On August 1, 1980, the school was upgraded to university status and took on its current name. The campus address is No. 200, Zhongbei Road, Puzhong Village. The old M-shaped campus gate, which students nicknamed the "McDonald's Gate," was relocated in 2012.

05What's coming

When the railway is put underground, a new Zhongyuan Station will be built beside Chung Yuan Christian University, named after the school, serving only local trains. The revised plan was approved in August 2026, with Zhongyuan Station placed in the second phase; the current timeline has it opening in September 2034.

How are these measured?

Compared against the Taoyuan neighborhoods in this guide; metrics without enough data are not ranked. Shopping counts convenience stores plus the nearer of a supermarket or a traditional market (public and private retail markets); night markets, vendor zones and shopping-street shops are not counted. Transit is rail-first with a lower weight for buses.

TidyMap rates the street environment and everyday convenience. It does not assess the home itself, safety, noise or actual living experience. About data limits
