A redeveloped district by the station, where a single path leads straight down to the Tamagawa riverbank
The closest neighborhoods in the same city.
Coming out of the station, a walkway called Ribbon Street cuts through Futako-Tamagawa Rise, running all the way to Futako-Tamagawa Park and the Tamagawa. At the end of the walkway, one side of the park backs onto the greenery along the Kokubunji escarpment, while the other side opens right onto the water's edge of the Tamagawa. From spring to autumn, people often play in the water on the riverbank there.
Back by the station, the residential part of Rise has three tower blocks and two residential buildings, 1,038 units in total. About two in ten households in this neighborhood live in buildings of 11 floors or more, compared with just 4% for Setagaya City as a whole.
In 2020, children under 15 made up about 14% of this neighborhood, and households with members under 18 made up about two in ten — both higher than Setagaya City overall.
Greenery ranks 67th out of 395 neighborhoods in Tokyo, a strength of this neighborhood. Futako-Tamagawa Park covers 6.3 hectares, and the Kishin'en garden inside it is the first strolling-style Japanese garden among Setagaya City's parks.
The Plaza Mall next to the residential area brings together a clinic, a pharmacy, and a nursery all in one building. Heading into the city on the Den-en-toshi Line, the original pitch for the redevelopment was about 15 minutes to Shibuya.
The lines you can take from this station are the Den-en-toshi Line and the Oimachi Line, and public transport ranks 193rd out of 395 neighborhoods in Tokyo. Overall convenience of daily life ranks 167th, placing it in the lower-middle range for Tokyo.
On weekends, the area around Tamagawa Takashimaya S.C. is often congested with traffic. When the river rises, Hyogojima Park by the riverside becomes unusable.
During Typhoon No. 19 in 2019, the Tamagawa riverside in Setagaya City flooded. The City office's verification report listed the area near Tamagawa 3-chome that has no levee as a verification scenario.
Afterward, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism built levees in the Futako-Tamagawa area; from April 26, 2025, part of the walkway has been open, while some sections remain temporarily closed. An announcement in October 2025 said the top of the levee in the Futako-Tamagawa North area is scheduled to open in mid-November.
From 1922 to 1985, there was an amusement park next to the station called Futako-Tamagawa-en. In 1969, Tamagawa Takashimaya S.C. opened at the west exit.
The east exit, by contrast, stayed quiet; in 1982 local people at the east exit formed a group to study redevelopment. The original plan was only to build offices and a shopping complex, and it was only after the bubble burst that about 1,000 housing units were added. Futako-Tamagawa Rise was completed in stages starting in 2011, with everything finished by 2015.

Hospitals with inpatient beds (2020 data), public elementary and junior high schools whose catchment covers this area, high schools and universities within 1 km, stations, parks of 1 ha or more, and large shopping malls and department stores. Many Tokyo junior high students attend private schools, so junior high catchments are only a guide.
Maps show the shops and the sights. What a street is like, you only know by walking it. TidyMap uses AI street imagery analysis and public facility data to turn each area's street environment and everyday convenience into something you can compare. Search an address and look at the street outside first.

TidyMap rates the street environment and everyday convenience. It does not assess the home itself, safety, noise or actual living experience. Street environment scores use AI assessments of imagery; convenience scores use public facility data.
