Local guide

01First impressions

Jisui is an old neighborhood centered around Jisui Elementary School, bordered by Zhongshan Road to the north and Liancheng Road to the south. For groceries, just walk over to Minxiang Public Market on Minxiang Street. For a stroll, head to Yuanshan Park, where you can still find remnants of Haishan Shrine—the stone steps and the torii gate's pedestal bases are still there.

02What works

For daily errands, this neighborhood ranks 31st out of New Taipei's 100 neighborhoods—in the upper tier. The core school zone for Jisui Elementary School covers 8 villages within this neighborhood, and Ziqiang Elementary School's zone covers another 4 villages here too—so there are two adjacent school zones. Zhonghe Senior High School is also in the neighborhood, right on Liancheng Road.

03Heads-up

Public transit here ranks 77th out of New Taipei's 100 neighborhoods—toward the lower end. There's no MRT station within the neighborhood; the closest one is Zhongyuan Station, just outside the northern edge. Sidewalks rank 70th too, so watch your step when walking around.

04A bit of history

Haishan Shrine was originally planned for Banqiao, but since no suitable site could be found there, it was relocated to Wai Yuanshan in Zhonghe. The shrine was deliberately built facing north, symbolizing protection over Zhonghe and Banqiao to the north. It was completed in 1938 on the site of today's Yuanshan Park, and after the war it was abandoned, leaving only the stone steps and the torii gate's pedestal bases. Jisui Elementary School got its start in 1954 as a branch campus of Zhonghe Elementary School, becoming independent the following year. In 2005, the shrine remains, along with a nearby air-raid shelter and the Jisui Water Distribution Reservoir, were designated as New Taipei City historic sites.

05What's coming

The first phase of the Wanda Line is expected to be completed by the end of 2027, according to the timeline announced by the New Taipei City Department of Rapid Transit Systems. Along the line, Zhonghe Senior High School Station will sit underground on Liancheng Road, west of Yuanshan Road, right in Jiaqing Village within this neighborhood.

How are these measured?

Compared against the New Taipei neighborhoods in this guide; metrics without enough data are not ranked. Shopping counts convenience stores plus the nearer of a supermarket or a traditional market (public and private retail markets); night markets, vendor zones and shopping-street shops are not counted. Transit is rail-first with a lower weight for buses.

TidyMap rates the street environment and everyday convenience. It does not assess the home itself, safety, noise or actual living experience. About data limits
