Homes around the Cultural Bureau and Beimen school
The closest neighborhoods in the same city.
Cross Beida Road heading northwest and you leave the old city behind, entering a residential area. The Cathedral of the Immaculate Heart of Mary on the corner is easy to spot—locals call it Beida Church. Further in, Beimen Elementary School and the Cultural Affairs Bureau are both within this area. To the south, across Jingguo Road, Xida Road has the Municipal Baseball Stadium.
For shopping and medical care, this area ranks No. 2 out of Hsinchu's 9 areas. There's a Carrefour on Beida Road, so you can carry all your shopping bags home on foot. For school-age kids, both Beimen Elementary School and Minfu Elementary School are in this area—this neighborhood roughly matches both school districts. On weekends there's the Municipal Library next to the Cultural Affairs Bureau. The bureau also looks after the Yanwuchang, the martial arts hall of the former Hsinchu Juvenile Reformatory, which is inside the area too.
Public transit ranks 6th—there's no train station in this area, and walking to Hsinchu Station means crossing through the old city, at least 700-plus meters. Jingguo Road cuts through the middle of the neighborhood; it's Provincial Highway 1, with a road width of 24 to 33 meters, so keep a close eye on kids crossing the street.
Jingguo Road was built in the 1970s, branching off from the North-South Trunk Highway and running past Sanmin, Beimen, and Minfu Elementary Schools before connecting to Heping Bridge. The building that now houses the Cultural Affairs Bureau first opened in 1986 as the Municipal Cultural Center, and wasn't reorganized into the Cultural Affairs Bureau until 2000. The baseball stadium was completed in 1976, torn down and rebuilt starting in 2019, and reopened in 2022.

Maps show the shops and the sights. What a street is like, you only know by walking it. TidyMap uses AI street imagery analysis and public facility data to turn each area's street environment and everyday convenience into something you can compare. Search an address and look at the street outside first.
How to read it: yellow = poor, blue = good; grey = not enough data
TidyMap rates the street environment and everyday convenience. It does not assess the home itself, safety, noise or actual living experience. Street environment scores use AI assessments of imagery; convenience scores use public facility data.
