Walk to the end of the residential lanes heading south and you reach a forest park with tree frogs and giant flying squirrels
The closest neighborhoods in the same city.
Liuzhangli is a neighborhood of residential lanes, and the area around Chongde Street, Jiaxing Street, and Xin'an Street is especially popular with owner-occupiers. The most representative park tucked into these lanes is Jiaxing Park. Head south to the end of the lanes and the terrain dips into a small valley—that's Fuyang Park. The park holds one of Taipei's rare stretches of fine forest, with 331 plant species and 5,000 trees, home to tree frogs, butterflies, and giant flying squirrels.
Step off at Liuzhangli Station and the elevated platform sits right on Heping East Road, so you're in the residential area the moment you exit. Head southeast along Heping East Road one more stop and you reach Linguang Station, which is also within the neighborhood, right at its southern edge. For daily convenience, this neighborhood ranks 26th out of Taipei's 73 neighborhoods, and 26th for public transit—both mid-range, so daily life here is reasonably easy. Both Da'an Elementary School and Jiaxing Park are within the neighborhood, so school runs and evening walks don't require going far. If you want to get into the woods, Fuyang Park is just to the south.
The intersection of Keelung Road and Heping East Road is where traffic converges from the expressway heading to Xindian and Zhong-Yonghe with traffic from the Zhuangjing Tunnel, so it often jams up during rush hour. Based on street-view photos, the neighborhood ranks only 68th out of 73 for streetscape environment. The southern edge backs onto the mountains, and the neighborhood only includes the residential blocks around Wolong Street at the foot of the hill—it doesn't extend to include Liuzhangli Cemetery or the Fuzhoushan hillside beyond.
The name Liuzhangli comes from Qing-dynasty land reclamation: one "zhangli" (plow unit) represented about five jia of land, and this area was reclaimed to the tune of thirty jia—exactly six zhangli, hence the name. Chongde Street used to be the main road through Liuzhangli, and was even designated an official road during the Jiaqing era; it was only renamed Chongde Street after Heping East Road was built as a separate new route. In 1990, administrative boundaries were redrawn, splitting Liuzhangli between Da'an District and Xinyi District. The valley to the south, now Fuyang Park, was originally a military ammunition depot, and aside from the military dependents' village near the entrance, it went undisturbed by development for decades. The depot was decommissioned in 1988, and after residents proposed turning it into a park, it opened in 2006 as a natural ecology park.

Maps show the shops and the sights. What a street is like, you only know by walking it. TidyMap uses AI street imagery analysis and public facility data to turn each area's street environment and everyday convenience into something you can compare. Search an address and look at the street outside first.
How to read it: yellow = poor, blue = good; grey = not enough data
TidyMap rates the street environment and everyday convenience. It does not assess the home itself, safety, noise or actual living experience. Street environment scores use AI assessments of imagery; convenience scores use public facility data.
