An old teachers' college campus with a strong arts and humanities feel, plus a park and traditional market in the lanes
The closest neighborhoods in the same city.
The campus of National Taipei University of Education has a strong humanities and arts atmosphere, and its classical buildings often attract film and TV productions looking for locations. The campus sits on Heping East Road, and together with the Daan Sports Center, it opens up the streetscape in this area a bit. In the alleys around Ruian Street, you'll find Ruian Park and Andong Market. The Wenhu Line runs along Fuxing South Road, with Daan Station to the north and Technology Building Station to the south, both within this neighborhood.
Seeing a doctor or running errands is convenient—this area ranks 10th for medical care among Taipei's 73 neighborhoods, and 14th for everyday convenience. For groceries, there's Andong Market; Chenggong Market has been undergoing an on-site rebuild since 2019, with vendors temporarily relocated to a transitional market on Section 2, Dunhua South Road. The Taipei Public Library Main Branch is also in this neighborhood, making it easy to borrow books or hit the sports center on weekends. In the southwest corner of the neighborhood, along Jianguo South Road, you'll also find Longmen Junior High School. Daan Station connects to the Tamsui-Xinyi Line, making it quick to get into the city center.
The elevated Wenhu Line runs right over Fuxing South Road, so if you're living on a floor facing the street, you'll want to factor in train noise. Daan Forest Park is on the other side of the Jianguo Elevated Road, so you'll need to cross under the elevated road to get there.
National Taipei University of Education traces its roots back to the Taipei No. 2 Normal School, founded in the Fanglan area in 1927. The Auditorium on campus is a red-brick building dating from the Normal School era, and it was designated a city-level historic monument in 2008. When construction began on Daan Station in 1988, land at the mouth of Ruian Street was expropriated for the main station structure. Technology Building Station opened along with the Muzha Line in 1996; the area's old place name was Long'anpi, and before the station opened it was temporarily called Chenggong Public Housing. Daan Station's Wenhu Line structure is integrated with an office building, making it the first MRT station in Taiwan to do this; the Xinyi Line platform, however, didn't open until 2013.

Maps show the shops and the sights. What a street is like, you only know by walking it. TidyMap uses AI street imagery analysis and public facility data to turn each area's street environment and everyday convenience into something you can compare. Search an address and look at the street outside first.
How to read it: yellow = poor, blue = good; grey = not enough data
TidyMap rates the street environment and everyday convenience. It does not assess the home itself, safety, noise or actual living experience. Street environment scores use AI assessments of imagery; convenience scores use public facility data.
