Market opens at 7am, with a weekend second-hand market upstairs

Life in Yongchun starts at the market: the first floor of Yongchun Market opens at 7am and stays open until 7pm, closed only on Mondays. The market shares a building with the Taipei Public Library, fully renovated in 2021; the second floor has been a flea market since 2008, open every Saturday and Sunday. North of Yongchun Station there's also Hulin Street Market, another place to pick up groceries.
Both markets are inside the neighborhood, and daily-life convenience ranks 6th among Taipei's 73 neighborhoods—you don't have to go far to shop for groceries. Healthcare ranks 7th, so seeing a doctor is just as convenient. The Bannan Line has two stations in the neighborhood, Yongchun and Taipei City Hall, and the Guangci/Fengtian Temple Station on the Xinyi Line, which opened on August 30, 2026, is also in the neighborhood. Around Yongchun Station there are also several parks, including Yongji Park. South along Hulin Street, across Xinyi Road Section 6 and up to the foot of Elephant Mountain, is the residential area of Songyou Li, which is also inside the neighborhood—Hulin Park is here.
In street-view photos, cleanliness ranks 69th, and architecture ranks 67th—both near the bottom among the 73 neighborhoods. To the north, across Yongji Road, is the Wufenpu wholesale clothing district, which is outside the neighborhood. To the east, the boundary runs along Zhongpo North Road and Zhongpo South Road; across the way, Houshanpi Station and Taipei City Hospital's Zhongxiao Branch belong to the Houshanpi neighborhood. Just outside the southern edge of the neighborhood is Yongchungang Park, one of the trailheads up Four Beasts Mountain. The elementary school serving Songyou Li is Bo'ai Elementary School, located outside the neighborhood in the Xinyi Planning District.
The name Yongchun comes from Yongchun Pi: the area was first settled by people from Yongchun, Fujian, and "pi" means pond. In 1990, when Taipei City redrew its administrative districts, Songshan District south of the trunk railway line and part of Liuzhangli in Da'an District were combined to form Xinyi District. When the MRT was being planned, this station was originally going to be called "Songshan," but since it's some distance from Taiwan Railways' Songshan Station, it was renamed after the Yongchun place name instead, opening at the end of 2000. On August 30, 2026, the Guangci/Fengtian Temple Station on the eastern extension of the Xinyi Line opened, with its entrances built into the park on the former site of the Guangci Bo'ai Institute.
The Circular Line Eastern Section will have Station Y37 at the junction of Songshan Road and Zhongxiao East Road Section 5, planned to allow transfers with Yongchun Station. As of the Taipei City Department of Rapid Transit Systems' August 2026 update, the projected completion year is 2034; after completion, preliminary and final inspections still need to take place before an opening date can be announced.

Maps show the shops and the sights. What a street is like, you only know by walking it. TidyMap uses AI street imagery analysis and public facility data to turn each area's street environment and everyday convenience into something you can compare. Search an address and look at the street outside first.
How to read it: yellow = poor, blue = good; grey = not enough data
TidyMap rates the street environment and everyday convenience. It does not assess the home itself, safety, noise or actual living experience. Street environment scores use AI assessments of imagery; convenience scores use public facility data.
